One of our customers in Baildon had the issue of their staircase leading straight into the hallway.
The staircase itself had just a standard 90 degree turn onto a large landing area but at the bottom of the staircase was a hallway leading to the downstairs rooms.
At the free home survey, the customer was pleasantly surprised to find that the answer to their problem was a Leodis curved stairlift with a hinged track.
We also added a top run on, meaning the track was extended onto the landing so that the user could travel exactly to where they wanted to get off/on. This curved stairlift has a modular track and the track doesn’t need to be pre-manufactured, it is built directly on site to the contours of the individual staircase, making installation achievable within a few days.
This stairlift gives the customer a bespoke stairlift that fits their home and their lifestyle perfectly.
On this installation the surveyor, an experienced stairlift engineer (not a sales person), decided that the stairlift would be installed around the internal bend, this leaves plenty of space on the top fan (turn) for those who do not need the use of the stairlift.
The track itself is fitted directly to the staircase and is one of the slimmest tracks around. Leodis stock every configuration of curve and helical, resulting in the delivery on a stairlift such as this being speedy and as soon as the very next day, we have even installed the same day as the survey!
This curved stairlift took around 4-5 hours for installation and demonstration.
To enable the customer to be able to go ahead with a stairlift installation, for health and safety reasons, the stairlift had to be fitted with a hinged track.
The hinge automatically lifts the bottom part of the track whilst the stairlift is in motion allowing the hallway area to be free from obstruction. The remote takes the seat up to it’s charge point (situated above the hinge) and then when you’re ready to use the stairlift you ‘call’ the lift using one of the remotes provided as standard and the hinge lowers, the seat travels downwards and the customer is ready to be seated.
Every curved stairlift is bespoke to that particular customer and that particular house.
The beauty of this curved stairlift is that pieces can be added, often at no extra cost, to ensure the stairlift is completely suitable for that particular customer. For this customer the track has been extended around the newel post giving the customer a ‘run on’. This added segment of straight track allows the stairlift user to be taken as far as they require.
