A stairlift doesn’t have to be for life – which is when stairlift rental can come in handy, as this recent case demonstrated…
Mr and Mrs Bishop were enjoying a holiday in Thailand when Mrs Bishop suffered a fall and broke her hip. While Mrs Bishop received treatment, Mr Bishop negotiated with the insurance company, the holiday company and the airline to arrange transport back to the UK. But there was one more issue to address. The Bishop’s Harrogate home had stairs that Mrs Bishop simply wouldn’t be able to manage until her hip recovered.
Mr Bishop got in touch with us from Thailand. Would we, he wondered, be able to provide an estimate for stairlift rental, carry out a survey by liaising with a neighbour (who handily had a key), and complete the stairlift installation in time for the Bishops’ return?
Well, yes we would.
By the time the Bishops returned home, their hallway had one new feature. The stairlift was in situ, and the rental price covered not only the installation and monthly fee, but parts, labour, callouts and the cost of removing it again once Mrs Bishop had recovered.
We agreed an initial 3 month rental, but we were happy to remain flexible – so if Mrs Bishop needs the stairlift for longer, she need only ask.
And to Mr Bishop’s appreciation, we didn’t even ask him to pay until they were safely back in the UK.
