How and when do I pay for my stairlift?

Print Friendly

We’re one of few stairlift companies that won’t ask for a deposit. In fact, we won’t ask for a penny until work is completed. Once we’ve finished, your stairlift is in perfect working order, you feel confident using it, and we have tidied up afterwards, you can pay by cheque, debit or credit card. Please note, there is a small administration fee if want to use a credit card.

What happens if I no longer need my stairlift?

Print Friendly

Not every stairlift we install will be required forever. But as long term injuries heal, or long awaited operations happen, you may find not every stairlift company wants to get involved in removing your stairlift. They just want to install them.

At Leodis, we offer a complete package from installation to removal. We may even buy back your stairlift. We can’t promise that will always happen, and it will depend on a number of factors including:

   •  Make and model of stairlift

   •  The age of your stairlift

   •  Whether it was bought new or reconditioned

   •  Our current stock levels

Even if we don’t buy back your stairlift, we will be able to remove it for a small fee, and even put you in contact with someone who may be interested in taking it.

What do I do when I need a new carpet?

Print Friendly

If you’re planning on fitting a new carpet and stairlift, do the carpet first. If that’s not possible, we can remove and then reinstall your stairlift, but there will be a charge.

Do you only sell new stairlifts?

Print Friendly

No! We supply and install new and reconditioned straight and curved stairlifts. All our reconditioned models are recent models and come with full service and warranty support. They are usually available for next day delivery too.

As your independent, impartial stairlift specialists we can advise and install the product that best suits your specific requirements – call us to discuss your options.

How do I keep my stairlift charged?

Print Friendly

Each stairlift is battery operated and most re-charge when left on a charge point at either end of the track. If you get off your stairlift before it has reached the charge point your stairlift will beep at you. Always keep your stairlift charged – if the batteries go flat they may need to be replaced.

In the case of some of our stairlifts, the whole track is a charge point, so you needn’t worry about running the chair right to the end of the track.

What happens if there is a power cut?

Print Friendly

Because it uses rechargeable batteries, your stairlift will still work for a limited time if you have a power cut. Of course, the more you keep your stairlift charged, the longer it will last in a power cut.

Will I fall off my stairlift?

Print Friendly

Every stairlift we install has armrests and seatbelts as standard, so you’ll always feel safe and secure using it.

What happens if something is blocking the way?

Print Friendly

Every stairlift we supply has a sensor in the footplate to detect obstructions. Should your stairlift identify an object lying in its path, it will halt its journey. To get moving again, reverse the stairlift a little, remove the obstruction, and continue on your journey.

How can I stop children using my stairlift?

Print Friendly

Stairlifts can be an exciting novelty for children but they shouldn’t be allowed to use them unsupervised. To ensure no one (whatever their age) can use your stairlift without your approval, every model comes with a lockable isolation key.

Will my stairlift be attached to the wall?

Print Friendly

Many people think that, but in actual fact stairlifts are attached directly to the staircase itself. During your free home survey our engineer will advise you on the most convenient side of the stairs for your stairlift and let you know if anything else (ie radiators) may need to be moved.

How long will it take to install my stairlift?

Print Friendly

Our expert, friendly engineer will install a straight stairlift in around 2-3 hours. Curved stairlifts take a little longer, but we should still be done and tidied within 4-5 hours.

Once the installation is complete, your Leodis engineer will clear away any packaging, and leave your stairway clean and tidy. He will then show you how to operate your stairlift, let you try it out, and answer any queries you may have. Only when you are satisfied do you pay.

How long will I have to wait for my stairlift?

Print Friendly

We can usually install your stairlift within days, and often within 24 hours of ordering.
